All of us from time to time have loved ones or colleagues that are experiencing illness, some mild others life threatening. It is during these times when we are most likely to go to God and seek his assistance. Many times during these trying times we do not know what to pray. We do not know what to ask for, God's will and his divine purpose which we often do not understand, or healing so we will not loose our loved ones. Today we offer a prayer for all who are battling illness or disease, for those who are sick, and or those who are facing critical life and death issues.
"Dear Lord, we come before you today, knowing that you are the creator and sustainer of all there is, we come before you today, claiming your word that tells us to "approach the throne of grace boldly" we come before you today, knowing that our prayers are heard and that our pleas get your undivided attention. But we also come before you today with humility, with the knowledge that you can and often do perform miracles in the lives of people, yet it is at your discretion this happens. Still God, we lift up before you our loved one (name) and we bring their illness before you knowing that you can heal her (him) and that if it is your desire you will perform a miracle today.
We come before you with the faith that all things are possible to those who believe in you and who call on you. Many of these things we do not understand: why my child? why my wife? why my husband? why my parent? why is this happening to them? yet we know that living in a world filled with sin, bad and unexplained things happen. Still we are confident that your grace is sufficient, your grace can cover all costs, your grace can and does engage us and is with us.
Today we ask not for ourselves, but for our loved ones who are suffering, that you will be with them, that you will embrace them and they will be able to feel your arms around them as they go through this time. We pray that you will breath the breath of life into them and they will know as certainly as they can that you are with them. And that you will continue to be with them in the days and weeks to come. It is in the name of Christ we pray. Amen"
