One of the things that most intrigues me is the concept given to us in Genesis where human beings are created in the image of God. It confounds me what that means and implies, but one thing is for certain, we are all image bearers and that is something to be grateful for; something to give praise for, and something to see in others.
"Dear Lord, thank you for making me in your image, thank you for caring enough about me to cast your image onto my being. As I carry this today and in all of my days to come, help me to see your image in the faces of others, especially those who look differently than I do, and those with whom I most disagree. Let me be aware that we are all image bearers, and none of us are greater, more loved, or more important than others. Help me to understand that your love is for all, and allow me the strength and courage to love others as you love me.
When I fall short of carrying your image with pride and integrity, forgive me, when I fail to offer grace, forgive me. When I fail to offer forgiveness, forgive me. When I fail to be patient, forgive me. When I fail to be a bright light for you, forgive me. When I fail to be who you want me to be, forgive me.
Allow me to enjoy the pleasure of being an image bearer of the King, and to know that it is because of you that all things are possible. Let this be a great day to love and share your will in the lives of others. Amen"
