Grief and Loss

Many people today are experiencing grief. Whether it is because of the anniversary of 9/11 or other reasons. The sudden loss of a loved one, the loss of someone who was sick for a long time, what ever your pain, we will pray for you.

"Dear Lord, so often we do not understand why things happen as they do. We know in our minds that we live in a sinful world and people make decisions that cause intense pain to others. This knowledge does not ease the pain of loosing someone we love and cherish. Heal our pain, heal the pain of those we love, of those who are left. Our minds tell us they are with you and are rejoicing, but our hearts are breaking. Our life seems lost and confused. How will we go on? What will we do now? Lord, help us to find peace in this time of pain. Help us to grieve in grace. Help us to comfort those whose loss is so much more significant than ours. 

For those who are remembering lost loved ones, whose absence is never fully replaced, give them peace and comfort. Embrace them with your love and grace,  surround them with your passion and peace. When our hearts are breaking so often we do not know what to pray. Remind us of your word that tells us that "when we do not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays for us in words too deep for us to hear." Pray for us Lord, send your Holy Spirit to pray for us and to help us feel the breath of God. In your name we pray, Amen."
