Today I am preparing a Sunday School lesson for this week about heaven, who goes there and why. In preparing this it got me to thinking about the questions people may have about our eternity and how it will look and feel like. and I thought of a prayer that should be offered for the hope we all have for ourselves and for our loved ones. So we will pray and give thanks for the hope we all have of spending eternity with our heavenly father.
"Dear Lord, as we often contemplate our eternity, we know our hope resides in you. Our loved ones who have already arrived for them we give you thanks, thanks that we were so fortunate to have the time we had to share with them. And for those who do not know you, we pray that your Holy Spirit will touch them and they will turn their hearts to you. For ourselves, we give you thanks and praise for the assurance we have that we will one day be with you, in that glorious place where all of our fears, all the pain of this life will cease, where we will enjoy being in the presence of our God forever. It is that hope and assurance that keeps us going, it is that hope and assurance that gives us the drive to continue to be whom you want us to be. It is that hope and assurance that gives us the ability to honor you and to give you thanks for all you are doing in our lives and for us in our lives.
Today we give you thanks for the hope and assurance that Jesus is mine, and that he loves us and that we will one day be with you in your kingdom. Thank you Father for loving us so much that you would offer us this opportunity that we do not deserve. In your name we pray, Amen"
